Conclusion of an agreement on the reconstruction of railway line no. 229 on the Kartuzy – Lębork section
On 22 September 2025, at the Sierakowice Commune Office, an agreement was signed between TORPOL S.A. and PKP PLK S.A. regarding the reconstruction of the closed railway line No. 229 on the Kartuzy – Lębork section as part of the project entitled “Design and execution of construction works on railway line No. 229 on the Kartuzy – Lębork section as part of the project entitled “Ensuring railway access to the Lubiatowo – Kopalino nuclear power plant.”
The contract covers the design and execution of comprehensive works for single-track railway line No. 229 on the Kartuzy–Lębork section. The project will involve the construction of 60 km of track and 15 turnouts, the modernization of 5 stations and passing loops, and the construction of 9 passenger stops. Fourteen platforms will be constructed at the stops, equipped with street furniture, dynamic passenger information systems, and energy-efficient LED lighting. All platforms will be adapted to the needs of people with limited mobility.
Moreover, there will be 68 engineering structures and 37 level crossings and pedestrian crossings rebuilt or renovated. The road system including the construction of new access roads to platforms and crossings will also be modernized.
To ensure power supply to the facilities on the modernized section, a non-traction line will be built, while the signal box in Kartuzy and five new technical buildings will be rebuilt to accommodate modern rail traffic control equipment.
The sanitary and storm sewerage, water and gas networks will also be rebuilt.

We are pleased to be participating in such a strategically important investment for the future of the region and the country.
The work will result in the restoration of passenger trains at 120 km/h and freight trains at 100 km/h. The line will serve as a transport route for freight trains up to 750 meters long and with an axle load of 221 kN.
The project is scheduled for completion within 30 months from the date of contract signing, and its total cost will be approximately PLN 625 million gross.
