Farewell to Tomasz Sweklej
Tomasz SWEKLEJ (1955-2025) was a man with a strong connection to the railway industry, a graduate of the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the Poznań University of Technology and the long-time President of the Management Board of TORPOL S.A., who managed and developed the company for a quarter of a century. Due to his vision and determination, TORPOL transformed from a small family business founded in 1991 into one of the largest infrastructure construction companies in Poland.
The years 2006-2016 saw particularly intensive growth of the company under Mr. Sweklej’s leadership. During this time, TORPOL was incorporated into the Polimex-Mostostal capital group, which brought great expansion to the Company’s machinery base and employment, and expanded its operations via railway energy and design branches. Furthermore, TORPOL entered the Norwegian market and began implementing two of the most important railway contracts in the country at the time: the construction of the Łódź Fabryczna intermodal station and the first Polish section of the E75 Rail Baltica line.
In 2012, TORPOL was transformed from a limited liability company into a joint-stock company, and in 2014, it successfully debuted on the Warsaw Stock Exchange and entered the oil and gas industry. At the end of February 2016, due to important personal reasons, Tomasz Sweklej resigned from his duties and left the company.
Mr. Tomasz Sweklej’s incredible diligence, dedication, and vision formed the foundation of our company. His professionalism, kindness, and wisdom will remain in our memories forever.
We express our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones.
The Management Board and Employees of TORPOL S.A.
