Grand opening of the KGHM Local Control Centre at the Lubin Kopalnia station
Today marked the ceremonial opening of the KGHM Local Control Centre at the Lubin Kopalnia station. This event culminates the “Railway Infrastructure Modernisation” project, designed to ensure safe and uninterrupted access to railway infrastructure for entities providing rail transport services for KGHM Polska Miedź’s core technological operations. This investment represents a technological leap forward in terms of safety and traffic control.
We executed the contract—valued at over PLN 242 million (net)—as part of a consortium with Zakłady Automatyki Kombud S.A.; the latter served as the consortium leader and was responsible for the technology and implementation of the railway traffic control systems.
As part of the scope of work entrusted to TORPOL S.A., in addition to constructing the Local Control Centre building, we laid over 32 kilometers of track and installed 56 turnouts complete with heating systems. A new traction network was installed at the Lubin Kopalnia station and along the Lubin – Lubin Kopalnia line section. We also reconstructed 15 railway-road crossings and modernised key engineering structures, including the viaduct over Hutnicza Street and the bridge over the Zimnica River.
The project’s adherence to the highest quality standards was confirmed by the receipt of EC certification for the Infrastructure, Energy, and Control-Command and Signalling subsystems.
