New road-rail vehicle for catenary works

During the TRAKO International Railway Fair in Gdańsk, which took place between 19 and 22 September 2023, the Company’s representatives took delivery of a new road-rail vehicle for catenary works on tracks with a track gauge of 1435/1520 mm, which will strengthen TORPOL S.A.’s equipment and transport depot.

The 9A class dual-purpose vehicle is a modern, fully-automated vehicle suitable for both road and tramway traffic, on which it can travel at speeds of up to 40 km/h, and in working mode of up to 5 km/h. Built by P.P.H.U. STAR-SAN-DUO of Starachowice on a Volvo FMX 8×4 truck chassis, the 420hp tridem D13 is equipped with, among other things, a Palfinger PK 29002 D Railway Premium crane, a removable load bed and a measuring pantograph. Thanks to the technology used, the 32-tonne machine can be fully remote-controlled by an operator from outside of the machine, and the PAL150 Railway Premium radio control allows automatic selection of the lifting capacity in relation to the degree of tilt of the chassis. The crane is also equipped with a two-person electro-hydraulically leveled work basket and a hydraulic winch with a pulling force of approximately 2.5t.
