Universal tamping machine Unimat 09-4X4/4S Dynamic

Unimat 09-4×4/4S is an eight axis machine used for tamping of tracks. As the first one in its class, this high performance universal tamping machine, which is equipped with a dynamic track stabilizer, combines the characteristics of a continuous track tamping machine (09-CSM) and state of the art turnout tamping machines (Unimat 4S). On the one hand, Unimat 09-4×4/4S Dynamic is able to maintain continuous working action during cycling tamping in the main track and, to a certain extent, in the turnouts. On the other hand, the machine enables the performance of maintenance works of turnouts according to state of the art technology, i.e. simultaneously lifting three rails and tamping four rails.

The machine has four track tamping units working independently of each other within a single sub-track which, by means of vertical guide pillars, are mounted in independent frameworks. Suspension of the framework in the frame unit is made of horizontal telescopic guide pillars. Such telescopic guide pillars are connected to the frame unit by a rotary sliding device, allowing units to move laterally and rotate on their own axis, which is performed by using hydraulic cylinders. Each unit for track tamping is equipped with four hydraulically operated and independently swiveled picks for tamping the track in turnouts, crossings and tracks. At any given time, one track may be tamped. External and internal picks can be pivoted from a given side to another one and up. The pivot levers of track tamping units are equipped with joint elements which allow the pivoting of a pick from normal position. Vibrations in picks for track tamping are caused by hydrostatically driven eccentric shafts, while their clamping movement is caused by hydraulic cylinders. Raising and lowering of units for tamping the track is also carried out using hydraulic cylinders via a system of proportional modulation. The depth of tamping can be adjusted smoothly and pre-set by using a digital circuit. All the tools for tamping of the track are made of special steel, prepared in a matrix forging process, while the edges of the clamp plates have been extremely strengthened and immune to wear in the process of welding of electrodes with the use of solid electrodes (creation of armored coating).
