Independence booth

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of regaining independence and the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of the Greater Poland Uprising and in cooperation with the Wielkopolska Voivodship Office, we carried out an installation project called: the Independence booth. The installation is a specially revitalized and rearranged telephone booth, yet the telephone inside cannot be used to make phone calls, but to listen to the history of regaining independence by Poland via the handset. The participants of those historical events – Józef Piłsudski, Ignacy Paderewski, Roman Dmowski, Wincenty Witos, Ignacy Daszyński, Jędrzej Moraczewski, Józef Haller and Stanisław Taczak – will be telling this extraordinary story. Each of the characters will talk about events and anecdotes from that period, and you will be able to see photos and graphics depicting the Greater Poland Uprising on the walls of the booth.

Today’s opening of the booth was made jointly by the Wielkopolska Voivode, Mr. Zbigniew Hoffmann and the President of the Management Board of TORPOL S.A., Mr. Grzegorz Grabowski, accompanied by the Member of the Polish Parliament, Mr. Witold Czarnecki.

The originator and author of the installation is Maciej Hanusek, while the official partners of the Booth are the State Archives in Poznań, the Józef Piłsudski Museum in Sulejówek and the JPILSUDSKI.ORG portal.

The project of the Independence Booth is also implemented under the long-term program of NIEPODLEGŁA.

We cordially invite you to visit the installation, which will be available to residents of Poznań and tourists until the beginning of February 2019.
