TORPOL signs a contract worth nearly PLN 3 billion for the modernization of Warszawa Wschodnia Station
TORPOL S.A. has signed a contract with PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A. to implement one of the largest railway investments in Poland. The contract covers the modernization of Warszawa Wschodnia station and work on the Warszawa Stadion stop. The contract value is nearly PLN 3 billion. Work is scheduled to begin in December 2026 and last until the end of 2029.
Considering the TORPOL Group’s order book as of the end of the first quarter of 2026, after signing this contract, the company’s order book will be worth nearly PLN 7 billion net. The contract for Warszawa Wschodnia significantly strengthens TORPOL’s position as one of the most important contractors for railway investments in Poland and will be one of the key projects implemented by the company in the coming years.
The investment will be co-financed by the European Funds for Infrastructure, Climate, and Environment 2021–2027 program. The project is crucial for the development of Warsaw’s rail infrastructure and the further improvement of the capacity and functionality of the Warsaw railway junction.
Warsaw East is one of Poland’s most important transport hubs. Nearly 1,000 trains pass through the station daily, including long-distance and intercity connections. The investment will be crucial both for passengers using the Warsaw rail network and for the smooth operation of the entire Warsaw railway junction.
For TORPOL, signing the contract for the modernization of Warsaw East means participating in a project of exceptional organizational, technical, and social scale. The work will be carried out at one of the busiest railway stations in the country, so safety, efficient coordination of the work, and minimizing disruptions for passengers and Warsaw residents will be paramount.
As part of the contract, TORPOL will carry out a comprehensive modernization of Warsaw East Station. Seven platforms will be rebuilt, roofed, and adapted to modern passenger service standards. The station will be equipped with a modern passenger information system, as well as solutions to improve passenger comfort and safety.
The investment will also include the reconstruction of underpasses and improved station accessibility through the installation of elevators and escalators. The project at Warszawa Wschodnia station includes, among other things, 14 elevators and 7 pairs of escalators. This will make the station more user-friendly for all users, including those with limited mobility, families with children, and travelers with luggage.
The contract also includes significant track, network, and engineering work. The project will involve the reconstruction of over 46 km of track, the construction of 57 km of new overhead lines, and the construction of 170 new turnouts. Seven railway viaducts will also be rebuilt, and a key element of the project will be the construction of a new railway overpass over 1,600 meters long.
The project will also include work at the Warszawa Stadion stop. The project will include the modernization of two platforms and the construction of a temporary platform to serve passengers during the subsequent stages of the work. The investment also includes improving the station’s connections with the surrounding area, including the construction of a connector enabling direct transfers between the railway and the metro.
Completion of work at the Warszawa Wschodnia station and the Warszawa Stadion stop is planned for the end of 2029. Once completed, passengers will benefit from a more modern, functional, and convenient infrastructure, adapted to the growing transportation needs of the capital.
