TORPOL has signed a contract worth nearly PLN 3 billion for the modernization of the Warszawa Wschodnia Station

TORPOL S.A. has signed an agreement with PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A. to implement one of the largest railway investments in Poland. The contract covers the modernization of the Warszawa Wschodnia station and the works on the Warszawa Stadion stop. The contract value is estimated at nearly PLN 3 billion. Work is scheduled to begin in December 2026 and continue until the end of 2029.

Taking into account the TORPOL Group’s backlog of orders status at the end of the first quarter of 2026, its value will reach nearly PLN 7 billion net following the signing of abovementioned contract. The Warszawa Wschodnia public order significantly strengthens TORPOL’s position as one of the most important railway investment contractors in Poland and will be one of the key projects the company to be implemented in the coming years.

The investment will be co-financed by the European Funds for Infrastructure, Climate, and Environment 2021–2027 program. The project is crucial for the development of Warsaw’s railway infrastructure and the further improvement of the capacity and functionality of the Warsaw railway junction.

Warszawa Wschodnia is one of Poland’s most important transportation hubs. Nearly 1,000 trains pass through the station daily, including long-distance and intercity connections. The investment will be crucial both for passengers using the Warsaw rail network and for the smooth operation of the entire Warsaw railway hub.

For TORPOL, signing the contract for the modernization of Warszawa Wschodnia station means participating in a project of exceptional organizational, technical, and social scale. The work will be carried out at one of the busiest railway stations in the country, so safety, efficient coordination of the work, and minimizing disruptions for passengers and Warsaw residents will be of highest importance.

As part of the contract, TORPOL will carry out a comprehensive modernization of Warszawa Wschodnia station. Seven platforms will be rebuilt, roofed, and adapted to modern passenger service standards. The station will be equipped with a modern passenger information system, as well as solutions to improve passenger comfort and safety.

The investment will also include the reconstruction of underpasses and improving station accessibility through the installation of elevators and escalators. The project includes the installation of 14 elevators and 7 pairs of escalators at Warszawa Wschodnia station. This will make the station more user-friendly for all users, including those with limited mobility, families with children, and travelers with luggage.

The contract also includes significant track, catenary, and engineering work. The investment will involve the reconstruction of over 46 km of track, the construction of 57 km of new overhead lines, and the construction of 170 new turnouts. Seven railway viaducts will also be rebuilt, and a key element of the project will be the construction of a new railway overpass over 1,600 meters long.

The project will also include work at the Warszawa Stadion stop. The project will modernize two platforms and create a temporary platform to serve passengers during the next phase of work. The investment also includes improving the stop’s connections with the surrounding area, including the construction of a connecting bridge enabling direct transfers between the train and metro lines.

Completion of work at the Warszawa Wschodnia station and the Warszawa Stadion stop is planned for the end of 2029. Once the investment is completed, passengers will benefit from a more modern and functional infrastructure, adapted to the growing transport needs of the capital city of Poland.
