Railway line no. 219

Project details:

 

Works on the railway line No. 219 on the Szytno – Ełk section are carried out under Program Operacyjny Polska Wschodnia [the Operational Program – Eastern Poland].

 

The scope of work includes, among others:

  • the modernization of 4 stations, 14 passenger stops, the construction of a passenger stop (Pisz Wschód) and the liquidation of a passenger stop (Karwica Mazurska);
  • replacement of the track superstructure over a section of about 112 km,
  • construction of 24 turnouts,
  • renovation of 101 railway and road crossings,
  • renovation of 186 civil engineering facilities,
  • building a new bi-directional one-way electronic line interlock in the direction of Spychowo station and incorporating Spychowo, Pisz and Drygała stations into LCS Szczytno,
  • construction of a new automatic level crossing system [SSP] on 12 runs with monitoring in LCS Szczytno,
  • installation of a fiber optic cable and a protective cable along the entire line.

Due to the conducted modernization, the time of passenger trains on the Szczytno – Ełk route and on the Olsztyn – Szczytno – Ełk route will be shortened by about 80 minutes. The speed of passenger trains will be increased to 120 km/h, and freight trains to 80 km/h.
